Every great cup of tea begins long before it reaches your cup. At Ikumbi Tea Factory, the journey starts in the lush tea-growing landscapes of Murang’a County, where dedicated smallholder farmers carefully nurture tea bushes throughout the year.
The process begins with the harvesting of fresh green leaf, picked at the optimum stage to ensure quality and flavor. Farmers deliver their tea to collection centres, where it is sorted and prepared for transportation to the factory.
Upon arrival at Ikumbi Tea Factory, the leaf undergoes rigorous quality checks before entering the processing stage. Depending on the final product, the tea is processed through specialized systems designed to preserve its quality and character.
From processing and grading to packaging and distribution, every stage is carefully managed to ensure that only the highest-quality teas reach consumers.
